On the first day of the 2011 Vermont Farm Show, 110 VBA Members attended the organization's Winter Meeting in Barre on Tuesday, January 25th at the Mutuo Club.
Janet Tam (left), a Technology Transfer Specialist from the Ontario Beekeepers Association was the featured speaker. She discussed the Transfer Technology Program's Mite Control and the Ontario Honey Bee Breeding Programs.
Vermont Beekeepers Association President Bill Mares discussed the VBA's plan to host EAS 2012 in Burlington and asked members to consider programs, seminars or anything that might be of value as the EAS 2012 Committee develops the program for the week-long event. To that end, we've created a Discussion Forum on the VBA website to solicit ideas for the program. VBA members are asked to login to the EAS 2012 Planning Forum and tell us what you'd like to see in EAS 2012.
Membership also voted to provide a limited number of stipends to reimburse VBA members who attend EAS 2011 in Rhode Island to, in part, encourage participation in planning Vermont's hosting of the event next year. (In a few days members will be able to submit a request for up to $75 to help pay for EAS 2011 registration. Details will be emailed to members and posted online.)
