Eastern Apicultural Society - 2013 Summer Conference

This year's EAS summer conference was held down in West Chester, Pennsylvania.  August 5-9, 2013eas31

There were over 760 attendees from around the country, with approximately 11 Vermont beekeepers who made the trip down to West Chester.

Mike Palmer and Bill Mares were both presenters at this year's conference.  Mike was a featured speaker for several workshops, panel discussions and bee yard presentations.

While at the conference the Vermont beekeepers enjoyed wonderful and engaging presentations helping to educate us on many topics, ranging from, how to set up your honey house to disease identification in the lab, and dissecting honey bees using microscopes.  Attending this year's conference workshops was a wonderful experience and a great educational opportunity.

This year's EAS Honey Show saw two VBA members recognized for their submissions.  Julie Wolfe won 2nd Place in the Honey Beer category.  Michael Willard won 2nd Place in the creamed honey category, he also won 1st Place for the Light Extracted Honey category.  Michael also won Best of Show for all Extracted Honey categories.

This year's conference offered wonderful workshops and great topics.  There was something for everyone each of the five days.  The EAS summer conference does provide beekeepers an opportunity to learn about the latest research and hear from today's leading beekeeping experts from around the country.
