Hi,

My hive has sounded healthy until about 3 weeks ago. I opened them up on a warmer day because I couldn’t hear much and sure enough, they were all dead and actively dying.
I did see a mite on the top of a frame. I also noticed the bees were in broken up smaller clusters through the honey super. I will send some in to get tested for disease.
Here are some photos I took of how the bees presented in the hive.

Without seeing the colony in person, does anyone suspect how they might have died?

There is also a couple circled areas in blue where there is some white particles. I’m not sure what that is.

Thank you,
Lindsey

Hello Lindsey,

Sorry to hear about the loss of your colony. I would recommend joining our upcoming session on deadout analysis that will be taking place on 3/20 at 7pm. There will be lots of information on how to identify the cause of your colony loss as well as time for questions.

You should be able to sign up via the following link: https://www.vermontbeekeepers.org/calendar/vba-meetings-events/vba-online-workshops/colony-deadout-analysis
