As I am taking a look in my shed waiting for spring, I am thinking about a stack of Pro Nucs that have been taking up space & putting them to use this spring. Does anyone have experience with or recommendations on whether Pro Nucs could be used effectively as swarm traps?

They are not large enough for a prime swarm. A five frame box will catch after swarms headed by virgins. Prime swarms need an eight frame box (or 10) to increase your odds.
Nuc box would make for mating hives. Or place to hold queen after you discover a hive is preparing to swarm. A lot of uses for them but swarm traps would not be top of the list.
