If you have slugs climbing up your electric fence posts and snapping the electricity a good solution is to place a layer of salt around the base of the posts. When the slug crawls over it does not do well, yikes !!!!. Do not put salt directly on the insulators because that will draw the current. Just around the base.
I have that issue every now and then after a rain. I may give that a shot. Have you found that the rain washes all the salt away or are you building a good mound around each post?
Hi Colin, the salt seems to stay for a long time. Just don't use it near the insulators, ground only. When it gets wet it will snap , annoying for the neighbors !!! I also spread it under my bottom wire. That kills the grass, less weed whacking.
