Hello,
I am a new beekeeper as of this spring. I have a colony that seems to have lost a queen a while ago and has actively been making supercedure cells since. We had a sunny day the other day and there were a bunch of bees flying above and all around the hive. I opened it up and saw there was a lot of empty honey comb as well. I’m wondering if the queen could’ve been on a mating flight, but the honey loss confused me. I’m also hoping that they weren’t actively being robbed. I have an entrance reducer on to try to prevent robbing. Does anyone have any idea what might be going on?
