I use the Bee Max hive top feeders, with the plastic "L". I have not placed them on the hives yet this spring. In the past I have had a few bees drown, even though I roughed up the inside of the "L". I have made up a modification that I hope will help. I cut a piece of #8 hardware cloth, window screen would work too, and screwed it on to the inside of the "L", this will allow the bees to walk down, feed and walk back up easily. The screws stick out into the liquid side, but who cares. I am not good at posting a picture but if anyone wanted to see a picture please send me an e-mail and I will forward. I will have to see if the screen and or screws rust. Should be OK for the short time the feeders will be used.
