Bee Tree

For a little over a year, I've been watching a very large hemlock tree with one or more honey bee colonies in it; light activity from a small hole just over 15' up and very heavy activity from a large entrance over 30' up. It swarmed at least once last year and has been casting swarms again this year (a swarm I hived yesterday probably came from this tree). I'm curious about whether anyone in VT is studying wild colonies because this one may be well worth investigating. It is on government land (Army Corp of Engineers), just off the edge of my back yard in Perkinsville.
