I am a newbee, sorta. Got my first nuc last June and I'm happy to say they made it thru the winter with a very strong colony. I have an AZ hive which has an entrance thru my barn siding. Lately, 4 hungry bear in my area have "trimmed" up the entrance and left lots of scratch marks, so I had to come up with a quick solution. We laced 3 strands of wire across the entrance about 6" out from the wall. The bees must fly past it to forage. I have been turning it off each day and on again at night. My worry is that the electrical current will affect the bees somehow, being that close to the hive. Does anyone have any information about that?
