Warm and sunny! At lunchtime I was standing out in front of my hives and I noticed a steady procession of "undertakers" hauling away the winter dead. I was struck by how far they were inclined to carry the dead - well out of sight if they could manage it. For some the load was too heavy and they hit the grass and then struggled up again to try and get further. Lots of bees pouring out of the hives. They haven't really touched the syrup in the feeders I put on. I looked very closely and although they are flying off out of sight they are not returning with any pollen, yet they certainly are intent on going out looking. Such a sight to see them out and active again.
