Not sure about the rest of the state but Franklin county will have 90 brand new Beekeepers .
I have held three Beekeepers classes with a total of 90 people with Nucs or packages on
Order. Most of them are bees from Ga.
It's great to have all the new Beekeepers but I have many concerns .
My hope is they will study and attended the local club meetings and join VBA , as well
As attend the local work shops.
I did stress the importance of being a good neighbor ,controlling Varroa mites,
Registering with the state ,and many other key factors.
I may have went a little to fare as I also explained the importance of local stock
I sujested they consider replacing their Queen the first part of July ,to purchase a
Local Queen ,and to make sure the Queen is local.
The only Queen breeder I know in franklin county is Mike Palmer so I give them his name.i
Also had them watch Mike Palmer's You Tube on the importance of local Queens.
I feel very strongly we need some how to furnish new Beekeepers with local stock
By bring in all this importated stuff just defeats the local Beekeepers from building
Good strong local stock.
P S did I go to fare ?
