Hi all, I’m not sure if this is the best venue to initiate this request, but I'm not readily finding contact info for the governing members of the VBA.
This September marks our 5th annual Vermont Golden Honey Festival, co-hosted by two beekeeper / local business owners from the Ludlow area. The festival is part craft fair, part food fair, and (too small of a) part bee fair. (Note: all crafters, artists and food purveyors must have at least one honeybee themed product.)
A core mission of the festival is to promote education and enthusiasm for the honeybee and beekeeping overall. In our first year, I reached out (albeit in a disorganized fashion) to the VBA for a presence at the Festival but I think we were bumping into the Tunbridge Fair or something. I'm renewing my plea for VBA attendance (and any of its beekeeper supply members or other vendors). While there is a nominal fee for vendor booths (we donate any proceeds to an area charity), a VBA booth would certainly be free. The event is held the second Saturday of September (for 2017, that's Sept 9) from 10am to 4pm at the Golden Stage Inn in Proctorsville (just south of Okemo Mountain). We have been voted a Top Ten Fall Event four years in a row and have upwards of 400 visitors. This would be a perfect opportunity to recruit new members to VBA, educate the general public about honeybees, and also educate beekeepers about best practices and available resources. I would love to have an educational component to the event, but I'm too busy with the general organization of the day to make it happen. The VBA's presence at Vermont's only "honeybee themed" festival would be wonderful. Please consider? Thank you! Julie
