Hi all,

I thoroughly enjoyed the annual VBA meeting in Hartland over the weekend, and learned heaps from the inspiring talks. Now I'm even more bee-mad than before!

I was wondering if anyone had experience they could speak to with the Slovenian style AZ hive- it seems like a really neat design, with easy access to the brood frames for inspection that wouldn't require any unstacking of supers or dramatic disruption of the whole hive.

From what I've seen online, they typically seem to be only two deeps, one for brood and one for honey, which strikes me as a pretty small colony. BUT they are often housed in special sheds, which seem like a great potentially bear-proof solution for rural settings like VT.

So I'm just curious if anyone has any compelling pro/con input on the things.
